The prevailing rainy conditions in the northern ASEAN region are expected to help subdue hotspot activities there. In the southern ASEAN region, the dry conditions coupled with warm temperatures could lead to an escalation of hotspot activities, particularly over central Sumatra and West Kalimantan, and an increase in the risk of transboundary haze occurrence.
